We support equal housing opportunity and do not unlawfully discriminate, harass, intimidate, or retaliate against an applicant, resident, visitor, employee, contractor, or other person.

- Immigration status
- Primary language
- Religion or religious belief

We also prohibit unlawful discrimination based on a person’s association with someone who has, or is perceived to have, a protected characteristic.
The federal Fair Housing Act protects people from housing discrimination based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, and disability. California housing and civil-rights laws provide broader protections, including ancestry, source of income, military or veteran status, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, marital status, age, citizenship, primary language, and immigration status.

Spechel’s Independent Living will not unlawfully:

- Discourage someone from applying
- Apply different requirements or conditions
- Provide different services or facilities
- Misrepresent housing availability
- Use discriminatory advertising or statements
- Retaliate against someone for reporting discrimination
- Retaliate against someone for requesting a disability-related accommodation
- Interfere with a person’s fair-housing rights
